Friday letters...

Dear Fall weather: You are here! Finally. Call me crazy, but I love the coziness that comes with dark and rainy Fall days. It would be nice if you held off on the rain while we are at the pumpkin patch this weekend...otherwise feel free to do your thang.

Dear Noah: Thank you for not properly securing Hannah's diaper this morning when you brought her back into bed before you left for work. If you are wondering why there aren't sheets on our bed, assume it has something to do with that.

Dear all-black-outfit I am wearing today: WTH?! I look like I'm going to rob a bank later.

Dear wedding guests: I thought it was SO fun to get all your RSVP's back in the mail...but now we are starting to get wedding gifts in...thank you, thank you, thank you! Noah calls it "Christmas EVERYDAY!"

Dear Glassybaby: I stalk your site every.single.day. I want to get a glassbaby each to commemorate Hannah's birth and our wedding...but a) I can't choose! and b) they are so expensive for candle holders!

Dear Hudson: Your bark is killing me, bud. Bark-shrieking in my ear is not going to make me understand what you want. I wish I could teach you baby signs with Hannah!

Dear baby weight: Thanks for choosing to stick around this month...it's not like I have to walk down the aisle in front of 200 people next week or anything.

Dear honeymoon: You are SO close! I can't wait to get these toesies in some sand!

Dear Hannah: Stop growing so fast. I love you.

XOXO

Updates

We are now just a mere 8 days away from the wedding. That is SO crazy to me. I have so much last minute stuff to do that it is beyond stressing me out. This weekend is going to be wedding central in the Grindley household. My goal is to have everything done by Wednesday so that I can just focus on family, beauty appointments, and sleep!

I realized that I haven't given updates on a few things that I've talked about in previous posts....so here you go!

House: Our offer was accepted! We went through with the inspection and decided to accept it, despite having some things that need to be immediately repaired. Now we are just waiting to hear from the bank. They have a maximum of 60 days...so I think we still have about a month left until that deadline. So we are just sitting tight for the moment. I'm a SUPER impatient person so normally I wouldn't stand for this...but with all the wedding hooplah (Noah thinks its funny that I refer to our wedding as "hooplah") its nice to just know that we are still moving forward with the house, but there is nothing I can do about it at the moment.

Hannah: Little munchkin was still not taking the bottle whatesoever....until yesterday! I might have tricked her a little bit (bad mommy)....I nursed her for a minute or two, then snuck the bottle in and she didn't even notice! Since then, we've had more success...she still fights us for a little bit in the beginning, but in the end just takes it. I LOVE nursing her and have no desire to stop anytime soon, but it is a tiny but freeing to know that I can go out of the house and leave her with Noah or my mom for a few hours and not stress about getting back in time to feed her.

Wedding: We are in the final countdown! Dun, dun, dun....!! We've had all our parties, bridal showers, etc....and are just enjoying our final week! My to-do list is beyond insane (4 pages!), but I've started bribing Noah with micro-brews from his favorite beer store to help me knock things off the list. Sometimes I have a bit of a Type-A personality and tend to feel like "if I want things done right, I should just do them myself." Not that Noah (or anyone else) does them wrong...I'm just weird..? Anyways, this actually worked out to Noah's advantage through most of the wedding planning process...but I'm starting to feel the stress and pressure, thus the bribing of micro-brews. :)

I think that is all the random updates we have!

This weekend I have a hair appointment (going darker...it's SO hard to maintain highlights, etc with an infant...I can't just pop on over to the salon anymore)...I'm a little nervous about making this change just days before the wedding, but I'm impatient (told ya!) and I get bored too easily....so back to brunette it is!
We are also taking Hannah to the pumpkin patch this weekend! I'm so excited! I was hoping the weather would hold out a little bit longer...but I guess we were lucky to have it sunny for as long as it was!

Look at those eyebrows!

4 month letter

My sweet girl,

You are now 4 months old! So hard to believe how fast time flies. It’s been a wonderful four months, baby doll and we can’t imagine what our lives would be like if we didn’t have you. Just tonight your dad and I were talking about how awful it would be if this was all a dream and we woke up and didn’t have you with us. We did not like that scenario at all. You are the most amazing thing to happen to us!
We missed your 3 month letter (busy Mommy over here!) so we are going to combine your latest accomplishments and shenanigans all into this one.

In the last two months you have grown steadily. At your 4 month check-up, you weighed in at 17 pounds and 1 ounce (97th percentile), measured at 26.5 inches (97th percentile) and your head circumference was 16 (75th percentile).

Your head measurement was of the most concern coming into this appointment because at your two month appointment your head measured WAY too big. They had 4 different doctors come in and take measurements to ensure they were getting accurate numbers. We left in tears (you over your shots, me over being worried about your sweet baby head) and were told to come back in a month for a head check.

At your head check, your head measured smaller than the month before (????)….again, we had 4 different doctors come in and take measurements. The good thing about this measurement was that you were right on track for head growth…but nobody could figure out what happened. We were told to just sit tight and see what your fourth month brought…and luckily you are still right on track. I am one relieved Momma!

The past two months have been so much fun! You are SO much more talkative and responsive to people around you. You are a little bit shy. You love to chatter away with Mommy and Daddy, but when we are in group settings you are more of an observer. You just like to look around and watch all the people. Sometimes when someone comes up and smiles and talks to you, you smile really big and turn your head into your shoulder. It is so adorable.

Lately you have started reaching! You put your hands into the air and just keep them there until Mommy picks you up. Daddy thinks you are just doing it because you are discovering your hands…but I think you are a genius baby and letting me know that you are ready to get up and move on to the next activity.
You still enjoy your swing. Sometimes if you are having a hard time going down for your morning nap, I will put you in the swing to calm you down for a little bit and you eventually nod off. I think the rocking is very soothing for you.

You LOVE looking in mirrors. We practice making faces at ourselves and you think it’s so funny. You also LOVE looking at yourself in Mommy’s phone. We try to send pictures to family a lot, so you really know what to do when the phone comes out. You get so excited and start shaking and “ooo-ing”. It’s hard to take videos of you, because the second you notice the phone, you stop doing what you were doing and just want to see the phone. J

Some other things you are loving right now: your pacifier, your taggies blanket, Minnie Mouse, watching TV, holding Mommy’s hand, sitting in Daddy’s arms, taking your clothes off (you laugh and laugh when it’s time to take your onsie off…and then laugh and laugh when I put another one on. I think you think it’s a little game we play…either way; it’s pretty adorable and makes changing time a lot of fun).

Some things you are NOT loving right now: your play mat, being in your car seat more than once a day, being along (these last two make driving by myself VERY challenging…I usually try to recruit someone to come on our errands to sit in the back seat with you J), and bottles. We are trying to work on the bottle situation…so that we can have a babysitter feed you at the wedding. We will see!

You have established a little bit of “stranger, danger” or separation anxiety. You prefer to be in Mommy or Daddy’s arms and will usually cry if you can’t see where we are. I’m told this stage comes and goes throughout the first 16 months…but I can’t say that I hate it. I love being there for you and holding you as long as you want.

You laughed for the first time! Mommy was playing airplane with you while we were babysitting and you just burst out into laughter. You laughed for a good 5 minutes and I was so happy that I burst into tears. Unfortunately I did not get it on tape because I was afraid you would stop if I moved! Luckily your Auntie Kristen made you laugh the next day by making Minnie Mouse dance on your tummy. I videotaped that one and we showed it to Daddy as soon as he got home from work and he definitely got a little teary-eyed. We love watching you learn and do new things…it’s amazing to see you grow right before our eyes!

Along with laughing for the first time…you also cried for the first time…and I mean REALLY cried. Your tear ducts are definitely working and you had big baby tears coming down your little cheeks. It’s hard to see you so upset and every time you cry, I cry.

You also had your first real fever. You had a slight fever with your two month shots…but that was nothing compared to your four month shots. You screamed every time I touched you or tried to move you. It was the first time I felt really helpless. I hated that feeling. Luckily, Daddy brought home some baby Tylenol right away and we gave that to you and then nursed you to sleep. When you woke up you were a refreshed baby! But I will always remember that feeling of you being in pain and not being able to immediately soothe you.

These days, you and I are pretty much attached 24/7. We are still nursing and you eat about every 3-5 hours. When you aren’t eating, you like to be held by me and played with. You take your morning nap in your swing or on the bed next to me while I do some work on the computer. You take your afternoon nap right on my chest. This is my favorite time of the day because it’s so relaxing to take a break from everything and just slow down and watch you sleep. You get some play time with Daddy when he comes home and then it’s off to bed all snuggled up next to Mommy. You are definitely my little snuggle bunny, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I feel so bonded to you, and even though you are only 4 months old, I feel like you (and your Daddy) are my best friends.

I love you so much, little lady. We have so much fun stuff to look forward to in the next couple months and I can’t believe we get to do all that stuff with YOU!
Love,
Mommy
